One look at this and you know what kind of band this is, and it is exactly what you expect. This is a band doing the '80s thing with way more enthusiasm than ability and the playing and songwriting are both energetic, excessive, and pretty sloppy. The vocals of frontman "Piercer" Dutta are all over the place and often a little off-key, but you know what? It doesn't bother me. I love a band that has the balls to sail past their unprofessionalism with sheer excitement, and Mustang are clearly really, really having a good time punching out shout-along metal anthems like "Cosmic Rage" or "Electric Ecstasy," they even slip in a cover of "Ram it Down" just in case you didn't get where they are coming from. This may not be tight or polished, but it is a lot of fun. |
