This is the debut from a German band using the imagery of Mesoamerican myth for their Black Metal. So far as I can tell, none of the members are Native American, so I can't vouch for the authenticity of any of this, but the music is pretty fucking good. This has a hollow, subterranean sound that suits the vibe, and the atmosphere is heavily built on atonal, unfriendly-sounding riffs that create an evil mood. This kind of reminds me of early Septicflesh albums like Ophidian Wheel, as it is similarly kind of compositionally messy and weird, but still cool. |
