This band with members from Germany and Brazil plays symphonic power metal and honestly, is a band called Flowerleaf going to play anything else? The EP Dreamerie: The Prelude is their second non-single release, following their debut album Stronger from 2018, and it is pretty much everything the band name and title imply, from lovely female vocals to neo-classical guitars to lush keyboard melodies. They lean more into melody and less on the speed many power metal bands employ. The music is beautiful and the sound impeccable, but Flowerleaf are doing things that are neither so different nor so much better than the myriad of bands in this genre to enable them to stand out from the crowd, but fans of later Nightwish, Epica, Delain, and the like should find Dreamerie: The Prelude likeable enough. I'm hoping "The Prelude" in the title foretells of a coming album and that Flowerleaf pulls out the stops because the potential is there. |
