Review

This is a band that seemingly can't keep a stable lineup, though it's been a few months since there's been any movement on that front, so maybe they found the right mix this time. Nervosa went from a Brazilian to an international band as the members now hail from several countries.

I quite liked Perpetual Chaos and was worried about this new album because of the lineup changes since then, but fortunately I found Jailbreak to be quite enjoyable and, well, fucking thrashing, from the first listen. The band's brand of thrash remains largely intact: lots of speed, harsh but decipherable vocals, lots of melody, and razor-sharp guitar work to rape your ears. There's a German thrash vibe to this. I was sometimes reminded of the likes of Kreator and Holy Moses while listening to this. Aggressive, raw, but catchy. The title track is infectious, good luck not getting it stuck in your head after the first listen, and it doesn't take long for a couple of others to have a similar effect. Nervosa aren't reinventing the wheel here, but they deliver uncompromising extreme-ish thrash rooted in the old school and they don't give you many occasions to breathe throughout the album, so get your air guitar and air drums at the ready before pressing Play.
