I liked Jenner's debut, To Live Is to Suffer, so I was happy when their second album, Prove Them Wrong, showed up in my review queue. Everything about Prove Them Wrong is an improvement over Jenner's first effort. The songwriting is the biggest benefactor, with more varied and interesting songs throughout the album. There are still power/thrash bashers like the Vicious Rumors-esque "Never Say Die" or the killer title track, which features some outstanding and creative lead work to go along with the headbanging riffs. Jenner also slows things up a bit without sacrificing any heaviness on "Born for Something More," which has a very catchy riff and chorus, or "Down in the Pit," which has a cool, sultry groove. Jenner wraps things up with the all-around great "Laws of the Weak" to end Prove Them Wrong as strong as it started. All the performances are excellent, and I have to once again call out singer/guitarist Aleksandra Stamenković as a consummate front person while at the same time giving bassist Anja Mirković and drummer Selena Simić plenty of credit for their solid work in the battery. Fans of female-fronted bands like Tower and Crystal Viper should take notice, but any fan of good metal will find something to like on Prove Them Wrong. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
