As the album name implies, this is not a new studio album but rather a compilation. Grave Digger split up and then became Digger and then Hawaii (I didn't know about this last one), before reforming as Grave Digger in 1991. This compilation contains material from that tumultuous period. Unsurprisingly, most songs sound like the Grave Digger of the '80s, a more basic and straightforward, catchy style of heavy metal than what they've been doing since the '90s with various concept albums. I'm sure I've heard some of these songs before, though it's been a while. I was expecting some horrific material as I had heard that the Digger period kind of sucked (I never bothered to check it out), and I can't think of a reason a band named Hawaii would produce anything good, metal-wise, but I didn't hear anything that put me off on this compilation, though the quality varies, as can be expected. Surprisingly, everything flows rather well and doesn't sound disjointed. This is certainly not essential unless you're a Grave Digger completist, and shouldn't be used as an introduction to the band. I'm only rating this based on a digital promo; the physical version includes a copious booklet with lots of liner notes, so if you're going to get this, skip the digital version and go for the CD as I'm sure that booklet contains a lot of interesting stuff for fans of the band.
