I've been meaning to check this band out for a while. Jenner is an all-female band playing thrash metal that's close to "harsh heavy metal," so somewhat similar to that of cleaner and more melodic thrash bands of the '80s as well as some of the more modern thrash bands that preceded the so-called thrash revival. At times the vocals remind of that of Erica from Sanhedrin, but also of some other singer whose name I can't put my finger on – that's been driving me nuts. Some alternance between a rough style and a more screamy style ("screamy" in a good way) keeps thing interesting. Crunchy guitar work is front and centre, just aggressive enough, reminding me of some obscure thrash bands of the '80s that most people haven't heard of. It's fun while it's on, but I can't remember much of it once it's over, but then again I can say that of a lot of albums I like. Promising. |
