Third release for multi-instrumentalist Geist with his most recent project Temple of Gorgon. This guy used to record as the excellent entities Valhom and Damnation Winds, among others. I really enjoyed the previous release—the debut full-length Throats of Lie—but I don't find this EP as good. The recording is more primitive, for one, and even though I can tell it was done this way on purpose, the sound on the album was so much better than this. I do like the adherence to that turn of the century vibe and sound, and there are good melodies and riffs buried in the echo chamber. Maybe this is just intended as a retro piece, but I know the man can do better than this. An enjoyable taste before the hoped-for full-length follow-up.
