Thy Idle Hands are a very recent Finnish death metal act that rose from the ashes of Insanity, who called it quits back in July. That might make you think this is more of the same thing, but Depravicide actually leans harder on black metal than anything Insanity ever did, mostly through the partly snarled vocals that support the expected death growls and add more depth to the compositions as a result. Thankfully, this is about on par with Insanity in terms of quality, churning out fierce, technical death metal malignancy that owes more to American acts like Deicide and Vital Remains while still retaining some of that European melodic sensibility. Not much else to say about this EP other than it's a strong start of a new chapter for most of the members involved and a solid meaty chunk of death metal by itself. Definitely looking forward to what a full-length will have in store for us.
