Sometimes, when we feel the need to decompress and to rest from an obscure and long-winded atmospheric black metal album or an hour-long behemoth of traditional epic heavy metal, all we need is a short and sweet slab of thrashy mayhem from a few crazy dudes in their twenties. Forcibly Wasted is precisely that. Youthful, raw and chaotic energy is on display in every single track here; you can tell that these five guys are having a blast playing this. The songs are very much à la Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust, so you know what to expect: short and fast tracks with plenty of groove that make you want to get drunk with your mates and dive into a moshpit. This type of metal is meant to be heard live or at a party in a heavily intoxicated state. As for the music itself, there are riffs aplenty and great leads, aside from frantic drumming and a thick audible bass. Also, props to the singer for belting out some truly deranged shrieks that only add to the havoc. Forcibly Wasted is not reinventing the wheel by any means, but it certainly is a jolly good time. If you ever need a break from a long and brooding listening session, just put this on and headbang till you drop. |
