Well, this rips. I didn't remember having reviewed Ribspreader's 2018 album, The Van Murders - Part 2, which I liked, but this here is cooler. This is old-school-style Swedish death metal with a modern production and some accomplished musicianship, so the music doesn't come off particularly messy or even chaotic. Oh noes! Well, do not fear. There's plenty of crushing heaviness, thunderous drums and angry growls kept just enough in the back to let the music do most of the talking. Lots of squealing guitars as well, but also lots of razor-sharp riffage that just call for the air guitar. The album is mostly speedy, with some heavier and slower passages, but when it speeds up you'd better hold on to your hat because this stuff downright flies. Fast, brutal, precise death metal. Gotta love it.
