This is a band that has been bashing away in the underground for almost two decades, but they are just now starting to break out to a wider audience. Sigh, such is the state of the US metal scene, thankfully there are labels like Cruz del Sur who pay enough attention to lift up bands like this. Mega Colossus are a band firmly rooted in '80s classic metal like Priest, Mercyful Fate, and Maiden, with a style that owes a lot to the NWOBHM without being consciously retro. This band has a lot of energy and they don't take themselves too seriously, so this also shares a certain Slough Feg vibe, with post-apocalyptic lyrical themes and galloping riffs. This sounds pretty much like I expected it to, but it is quite a bit better than I thought it would be. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
