I had heard some earlier Ironflame albums, and while I thought they were good, they were not great. I missed this one a few years back and I should not have, as it is the best thing this band has done. As always, this is mostly a solo project of Andrew D'Cagna, who has produced most of his music himself, but since he joined Icarus Witch in 2018, some members of that band have been finding their way into the studio to help him out, and this album seems to have been more of a band effort, with Icarus Witch guitarist Quinn Lukas credited, among others. The result is a much stronger album, without the feel of a pure studio project, and a more band kind of sound. This is pure Heavy Metal in the vein of Maiden, Twisted Tower Dire, Riot and other classic shit. Again, there may be no 5-star songs on here, but a whole album of 4+ is often better.
