Very Finnish black metal out of Mexico here, and it's of the savage and tortured variety. Oaths of Midnight Ashes is chock-full of intense, fast black metal with some rather disturbing, tortured and insane screams that kind of steal the show here—there's just no way to tune out these agonizing screams. The music is mostly fast paced and tight; it's raw but precise, with razor-sharp guitars that shred the speakers to pieces. All this brutality and chaos of interspersed with lots of melody and melancholy that bring the vocals' feeling of angst and agony to the music itself. The only respites for the listener are some very short acoustic interludes that quickly turn into more devastating black metal. I found that I need to take this album in small doses as its atmosphere can be quite depressing, so it's definitely not something you want to indulge into if you're feeling down. Nicely done. |
