Fast, incisive, razor-sharp Finnish black metal is what White Death offer us on Iconoclast. The shrieky vocals that sound a little chipmunkish are ear-piercing and a little annoying at times, but the vocalist gets the job done and overall the style is quite fitting to the music, which is pretty much nonstop, wall-to-wall blasting. It almost never stops. That works, but for the most part there isn't much of anything that sticks out of the album, it's almost like one long song, with a few exceptions like the title track which is more on the melodic side and not as much of a blast fest. I like this album, but it's one of those I'll put on when I want to listen to an album that destroys everything in its path, and I don't care about it having anything especially remarkable other than that. Oh and, don't try to headbang to this or your head will fly off your neck. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
