I have been hearing a bit of buzz about this EP, so I was curious to see (or hear) what it had to offer. Hasturian Vigil are an Irish band, and this is their first release of any kind. This has an interesting sound, as it is definitely Black Metal, but it often has a slower, more doomy edge, kind of similar to old Forgotten Tomb in places. The recording has a lot of space, the guitar sound is passable but could be better, and the whole thing is going for atmosphere over anything else. It's not bad, but it's not really doing anything special. |
