Metal De Facto is a Finnish band comprised of musicians with groups like Ensiferum, Bloody Hell, and Everfrost on their collective resumes. This band is their "happy" power metal outlet and the songs on their second album, Land of the Rising Sun - Part 1, will have you thinking it is the early aughts when bands like Celesty and Kaledon were front and center. Lots of major chords, high-pitched vocals delivering catchy choruses, neo-classical noodling, etc. make up the fabric of music Metal De Facto weaves. You can knock an album like this for sounding a lot like what has come before, but it is done very well and therefore, if you dig happy power metal, it is hard to imagine you not finding something here to get the feet tapping and the falsetto ringing out. |
