This band has been making waves for a few years, despite that I have not actually heard them before. Since some mouth-breathers inexplicably claim this band is "crust punk," I was skeptical, but let's lay that aside shall we? This is rather epic, highly melodic Black Metal that shares some DNA with bands like Uada or Mgla, with the obligatory nod to the common ancestor of Dissection. This kind of thing lives by the inventiveness of the songwriting and melodic sense, and Dödsrit are aces in that department. Rather than full-on aggressive, this is smooth and hooky, with clean riffs and a lot of space for mood and feel. If you like the more energetic bands in the "Atmospheric" school, like Elffor, then this should be right up your alley. |
