Exigenced are a fairly new death/thrash 5-piece that live in Espoo, Finland, which is close enough that they directly sent me their latest EP. Their promotional material lists names like Morbid Angel, Death, Gojira, and Hypocrisy, but for what it's worth, I wouldn't say they directly sound like any of them and are clearly aiming to be more individual. Unfortunately, while the songwriting itself is perfectly decent, the songs here don't have that many good hooks to make them memorable and not really enough shape to stand out from one another too much. They do have the odd exciting moment that perks things up, but they don't come around enough to make them stand out among the countless other death/thrash acts out there. Vocalist Topias Rinne is also a bit of a weak point, for while he's giving it his all as he shrieks and growls like Gojira's Joe Duplantier, the vocal lines tend to be a bit clumsy and distract from the rest of the music. Exigenced have potential and definitely have the right idea, but they really need to work on their execution if they want to go anywhere.
