I had to cleanse myself after giving 2024's Sound & Fury a few listens a few days ago. Mass Confusion, from 2016, is where the real deal is at. This is fun old-school thrash, reminding me a bit of "newer" bands like Municipal Waste that have been doing roughly the same thing for the past couple of decades. I often call this "party thrash" as it's upbeat, clean, calls for headbanging and moshing or what have you—including drinking a few beers—and also it's not dark or obscure. Some of this reminds me a bit of '80s Anthrax, who are probably the biggest name in this kind of insane, high-octane, high-spirited thrash. The vocal style isn't my favourite, but it's typical for the genre and anything else just wouldn't work as well. The guitars are crunchy and razor sharp, very incisive riffage going on here, and the drummer beats those skins where it matters. This belongs in the thrash revival trend that has been going on for several years now, but not as many bands play this specific brand of "party thrash," so it's always cool to hear a good album filled with it.
