This is very Norwegian-like black metal out of Quebec City, Canada, with a hint of the French style of the early 2000s (itself often influenced by the Norwegian scene). Lots of fast, blasting black metal is found here, delivered with razor-like precision and destroying everything in its path; I'd like to see them perform this stuff live as it's sometimes insanely fast. There's a lot of melody throughout, even found in the fastest passages but especially in the slower, more solemn passages sometimes accompanied by spoken vocals. But it's largely pedal to the metal and sounds over the top, the kind of music that grabs your attention right from the start and makes you beg for more once it's over. Some of the chants are borderline epic, very poignant and grandiose sounding, making this sound bigger than life. If you like blasting black metal with lots of curve balls and melody to boot, check this one out. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
