This band has been around for about a decade, but this is their debut full-length. Scandinavian Funeral Doom has certainly been done, and while this delivers in the bleak atmosphere and crushing heaviness, it lacks in the songwriting. The music is good, but emotionally it's pretty flat. Funeral Doom has to use musical ideas that build and build the tension over a long song, but this does not do that, and pretty much just grinds on with songs that all sound a lot alike. If you like Funeral Doom you can certainly do worse, and I don't dislike this album, but it does not do anything to really stand out. |
