Well damn. This is pure motherfucking thrash right here. A lot of old bands have been returning and the results have been mixed, but Atrophy stand up there with the best of them, with Asylum being uncompromising, fast and brutal thrash. To hell with the "sound of the day," Atrophy stayed true to their original sound, only taking advantage of modern production means, and this doesn't sound dated yet feels like the heydays of the genre. This is relatively clean but pounding U.S. thrash with a hint of the mid-80s German scene, so we're in friendly aural territory for those who want their thrash to peel the paint off the walls and terrorize the neighbourhood. The vocals are aggressive and a little harsh, but totally decipherable, the guitar work will slice your eardrums and the drums will shatter them to pieces. Definitely up there for thrash album of 2024. The year is still young, but this will be hard to beat. See below for more reviews and interviews... ↓ |
