This is the third album by indie Canadian band Ischemic, though it is a bit short for a supposed full-length at just over 30 minutes. When I see a Doom band of any kind with only four tracks on a disc, I expect them to be monstrous. These are respectable, between 6 and 9 minutes, but it still seems a little scanty, especially considering their last two albums were almost twice this long. But length is less important than what the songwriting is doing for that time, and this is much more in the vein of depressive Black Metal, really, with a rather thin guitar sound and slow grinding songs. I don't dislike this, but it doesn't have a lot of personality. The sound is dry, the vocals are dry, and the songs are just long for the sake of it. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
