This is pretty cool. This is Cancervo's third album but I had never heard of them before and, after hearing III, I think I'll need to go check out their first two albums. This is very slow, heavy doom with an occult vibe, so right up my alley. Nothing flashy here, in fact the album kind of just cruises along, not making any waves and it's both relaxing and entrancing; whether you just want something to use as background music or something to close your eyes and immerse yourself into, this totally works. It has that '70s heavy, occult style that I really like, really chill stuff that gets the head bobbing and those guitar riffs sure get the air guitar going. I don't know if there's a new trend starting as I've recently got other albums working the same kind of sound, we'll see, but Cancervo is certainly a band doing this right. A bit on the short side, but there are no fillers to be found, just solid old-school occult doom. |
