Was a time when a band like this would have been snapped up by Limb or Arise right out of the gate, but Dialith are almost a band out of time now, playing that classic turn-of-the-century female-fronted Power Metal in a way not many bands are these days. I remember really liking their debut Extinction Six, but that was—man—five years ago. I was pleased to see where this band is now. Again, there is nowhere to hide with music like this, you just have to write good songs with good hooks, and Dialith can do it. Opener "Writhing Red" is maybe a bit bland, but "Ironbound" is compulsively singable, and "Shadowdancer" is the most ambitious song they have tried so far, with Middle Eastern melodies and a complex rhythmic structure. This is just a short EP, but it shows this band still headed in the right direction. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
