This is an underrated Spanish band who put out a killer debut, then an even better follow-up with The Harrowing, and now we get their third full-length after a refreshingly short wait. Devotion play an avowedly old-school, Euro stripe of Death Metal, with crushing but melodic riffing and ruthless heaviness. I like the grim, echo-laden quality of the recording, which makes this sound like it was tracked in an ancient tomb, with the vocals like bellows of the dead roaring from the depths of the earth. There are a lot of bands trying to recreate the classic NWSDM sound, but not many of them get the vibe right, and this one does, because this disc sounds evil as fuck.
