I missed Cloven Hoof's previous album, Time Assassin, and was pleased to see this one land in my inbox. Once again these NWOBHM veterans have produced an album that's rooted in their early years and delivered it with a modern kick and production and some speed to boot. Most of the songs here are infectiously catchy, very melodic yet packing quite a punch. It's solid heavy metal, yet many songs here are accessible enough to attract those into mellower but rocking genres (hook them up and bring them to the dark side—hehe). The vocals are powerful and as clean as it gets, yet very "metal" with a hard edge and most of the vocal lines will get stuck in your head and make you want to sing along. I've been listening to this album for several weeks now, often multiple times daily, and it ages like a fine wine. Upbeat, fun, catchy and solid heavy metal for when you want to lift your spirits up.
