With the past few years of single releases from this band, it's obvious their label is putting a good bit of work into promoting them. It's easy to see why, as this is the kind of highly polished melodic stuff that can actually make for commercial success. The real question is: is it any good? It's bland. Once you peel back the layers of studio work and keyboards layered all over everything, the songwriting is really pretty threadbare, with no really good hooks or memorable parts. The playing is sharp and well recorded, but it's pretty much just background for the vocals, which are clearly the focus here. Singer Noémie Allet has a solid voice, and she's good at what she does, but there's almost no feeling in anything she recorded here, and it sounds like music that might as well have been made by machines, for all anyone seems to care about it. I can't see a reason to get excited about this. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
