I've been saying this too much, but it still applies to Humanoid: Accept have been releasing solid albums since Blood of the Nations, but that was a high bar they set for themselves and many of the albums that followed sound like they're playing it safe. Not exactly a bad thing when you're a band like Accept. Humanoid has been a bit of a grower for me, so it's worth giving it a few listens before passing judgment. Well... What can I say. There's nothing new here: it's just Accept being Accept, churning out catchy songs with solid riffs, lots of singalong-inducing vocal melodies, and a bit of an '80s feel that reminds of the band's early years while still sounding fresh and more modern. Vocalist Mark Tornillo has been with the band for 15 years now and his Udo-style vocals are, of course, a perfect match for the band's music, and that's the only comparison worth mentioning as the man very much stands on his own (and, from what I've seen on YouTube, he is a great live frontman). Humanoid isn't an album I'd consider near the band's best, but it's filled with solid songs deserving of the Accept name. See below for more reviews and interviews... ↓ |
