This is fun. This debut EP from Demon Spell is filled with old-school heavy metal that's not without reminding one of old Mercyful Fate and King Diamond, and not just because the vocalist has a style very similar to that of King Diamond, though not quite as accomplished yet. The music is heavy and catchy, with lots of cool riffs and solos that send you back to the '80s with a one-way ticket. It's a little rough around the edges, but in a good way. Better than demo quality, but with that raw DIY sound that gives it some charm. The music just wouldn't be as cool if this were more polished. I'm looking forward to hearing what they come up with next.
