These days, when we say a band plays old-school Swedish death metal, it's almost always not a Swedish band, so it's nice to see an exception. ;) Open Surgery's buzzing guitars rule this EP, with a plethora of catchy, abrasive and aggressive riffs and blazing, catchy solos, all of which just call for some serious air guitaring. Those machine-gunning riffs sure know how to talk to me. The growls are kind of decipherable if you crank the volume loud enough and pay attention. At times I was reminded a bit of Nocturnus (or Norturnus AD, whatever), though these are just short passages here and there. Nothing new here, but Open Surgery do the genre well.
