Interesting band here, Rotten UK mix punk, rock 'n' roll, heavy metal and thrash on their second album, Age of Chaos. It's heavy and raw, with kind of a DIY sound with the sharper edges polished a little bit. The vocals certainly remind me of a number of punk vocalists I've heard, no doubt as to the genre influence there. Musically it's kind of all over the place without it sounding like the mess you would expect if the band didn't know what they were doing. Lots of catchy melodies, but for the most part this is straightforward, in-your-face, fast heavy/thrash metal with some punk bits popping up in all the right places. Some guitar solos remind me of classic-era Motörhead, very old-school vibe that also brings a bit of that rock 'n' roll sound. I can't say I was blown away by this and there are some tracks that don't quite hold up to the others, but it's a lot of fun through and through. |
