I thought this band's self-titled debut from 2020 wasn't very good and not a lot has changed with their second album, Overdrive. On the plus side, the production is better with a warmer, punchier sound and some of the guitar work is not bad, capturing a touch of the NWOBHM fire these guys seem to be after. In the negative column, the vocals are still a glaring weakness with guitarist Daniel Olsson, who also handles the singing, fighting to say in key and often losing the battle. His voice is clear, but he lacks the charisma to overcome his shortcomings. The songwriting ranges from simply derivative ("Hammer of Vengeance," "Overdrive") to downright ridiculous ("Meat Heart," "Bitchtit Highway," easily one of the worst song titles I've ever run across). Leadbreaker isn't the worst band I've ever heard, but there is so much traditional heavy metal available today, you can find a better album than Overdrive blindfolded and with one arm tied behind your back.
