After a long period of inactivity, Hate Forest came back in 2020 with Hour of the Centaur and have been a going concern ever since. This is an EP they have put out to keep things warm, presumably before another album later this year or early next. Considering how shit is going in Ukraine, I find their productivity remarkable, especially when what they come up with is this good. (Although when I say they I mean he, as this has become a one-man band in this new incarnation.) This is Hate Forest in their most hard-edged, with blurring riffs and hammering drums. There is still a level of atmosphere to this that is just inarguable, and I don't think this band could produce music without it. Maybe this is a minor work compared to some of their albums, but it is still a blistering spear-thrust into the guts. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
