Second album for this death metal band formed in 2019, and their first album slipped through the cracks (I have it, just never got to it). If it's anything like this, it's certainly going to be worth digging out. With a band name like that, I thought this would sound like a muddy barrage of aural chaos, but Manual Manic Procedures is actually filled with tight, fast, early-90s-style death metal. I'm reminded of some of the best Cannibal Corpse, among others U.S. bands of that era, but even also a bit of the old-school Swedish death metal sound at times. Something that stands out is how much this thrashes. There's a lot of actual thrash in here, of the more extreme but also tightly played variety of the late '80s. You just can't miss it, some of those riffs and drums almost make you forget you're listening to a death metal album at times. Throw in a bit of a gloomy atmospheric vibe for seasoning. I don't know, the artwork may be a turn-off for some listeners, but they should just close their eyes and press Play, or they'll be missing out on some fine death metal.
