I was intrigued by Mike's review of this, as he seemed to have a hard time classifying it. Imagine my surprise when I hunted it down and then discovered it is textbook Doom/Death. This is solidly in line with bands like Swallow the Sun, November's Doom, or Draconian, though Druids of Eld features exclusively male vocals, as it is a one-man project. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the riffs on this, as they feature some lovely melodies, and the harsh vocals are actually well integrated into the sorrowful vibe. Maybe the songwriting is a bit disjointed, but that's a minor caveat. This is a quality Doom release and I hope we get more. |
