The almighty have returned with another slab of dark, melodic black metal. Once again there's some of that faster '90s-ish black metal, but where Contagion Zero shines is with its dark and melodic atmosphere, kind of creepy and even horror-like at times, with otherworldly screamy rasps that pierce the ears and haunt your nightmares. A few passages wouldn't sound out of place on a black 'n' roll album, where others find the band just plowing ahead and crushing you while doing so. Much like its predecessor, Contagion Zero doesn't really bring anything new to the genre, but Horned Almighty have successfully brought together several black metal elements, making this quite an enjoyable listen.
