Not much to say about this new album by California's Laceration (one of many bands with that name, but apparently the only one that's active). They sound like you'd expect with a name like that, and that's a good thing. Heavy, pounding thrash-laden death metal well rooted in the old school with the usual suspects as influences (think of most early-day USDM bands and mix them up a little) is what the band has on offer, and you can throw in a dash of more modern death metal to keep things fresh and interesting. I can't say anything stands out here: It's a consistently good album that steers clears of any lame gimmick, and there's nothing here you haven't heard before. But it's solid through and through and will make the walls shake when you crank up the volume. Not necessarily an album I'll go out of my way to reach out for, but once it's on, it's usually for a few listens in a row. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
