Second album for Spain's Intolerance, and it's filled with what you'd expect from looking at the logo and artwork: Old-school, dark, heavy death metal. So, nothing new here as the band rips pages from the early Swedish and Florida death metal greats. Lots of buzzing guitar riffs and squealing solos that rip your guts out, thundering drums and some first-rate growls reaching out from the abyss. Wrap all this up with a healthy dose of strong dark melodies and you get a nice package of well-executed death metal. Intolerance may not be bringing anything new to the table, but Waking Nightmares of an Endless Void sounds just like its name implies and pretty much any death metal fan should find something to like here.
