This is actually the first time Dis Pater has put out an EP under the Midnight Odyssey name. After 4 full-length albums (some of them VERY LONG) in the last 4 years, this is a bit of a step back from the massive, epic running times and an attempt at a more focused experience. I have really enjoyed this band's output, and this time there is definitely not a drop in quality. Epic, expansive, atmospheric Black Metal is what you get here, obviously influenced by bands like Evilfeast or Battle Dagorath, all drinking deep from the well of Summoning and Emperor. If you like this kind of stuff, then this band reliably serves up feasts you will enjoy. This is almost a quarter of the length of the last album, but the songwriting is just as solid.
