Bloodsucker, like most Ice War material, is very reminiscent of the early NWOBHM period, rather raw DIY heavy metal that lacks polish but more than makes up for it in attitude. There's kind of a Venom meets Iron Maiden thing going on here, marrying that messy, early Venom charm and some guitar work reminiscent of Maiden, though there's not that much of the latter as the music here is more pedal to the metal and frequently flirting with speed metal—a good way to mess up your neck headbanging. Jo Steel's vocals are better here than in the past where he often sounded like he was struggling somewhat. Great improvement here that makes the songs more enjoyable. It's unfortunately only 17 minutes, including two covers, but it's a lot of fun if raw heavy metal is your thing. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
