I definitely didn't expect this, for some reason. This is pretty raw and almost lo-fi blackened death metal and, if you like shiny production and technically inclined metal, you'll have to look elsewhere. As it turns out, I like this kind of stuff ;). The drums remind me of old Mayhem, the vocals are a kind of raspy growl sitting on the fence of black and death metal with a hollow, lo-fi sound that makes the music sound even more raw. This is pretty old school, very reminiscent of mid-90s black metal mixed with death metal. The atmosphere is gloomy, the music is mostly slow to mid-paced which makes it feel crushing despite the thin production and demo-like qualities, and it has that charm of early black and death metal when things were more about attitude than musical prowess. Nice. |
