It's been a while since I listened to some Destruktor, so I was glad to see this land in my inbox. Well, I don't like this new album as much as 2009's Nailed. Indomitable sure packs some furious black/death/thrash hybrid, with the expected heaviness, speed and chaos and devilish atmosphere—no surprise there. The vocals are haunting, the music is played with conviction with everything in the right places. But it sounds kind of samey, like a very long song with nothing that really stands out. It works extremely well as background extreme metal; it doesn't get in the way of whatever you may be doing, just plowing through without making too much of a fuss. I'm actually not saying that in a bad way. It's nice to have this kind of album handy, and it's not like the music is bad—far from that. It's just an album that doesn't colour outside the lines and is kind of linear, and despite that it's still better than a lot of albums in the genre. Not essential, but you can't really go wrong with it either. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
