Limbonic Art haven't been all that prolific in the past 20 years or so, and it's been 7 years already since Spectre Abysm, which I haven't heard, for some reason it flew below my radar. If you're familiar with the stuff up to Legacy of Evil, this is quite different as gone are the overwhelming keyboards that were practically the band's trademark. This is guitar-driven and really more in line with straightforward Scandinavian black metal mostly devoid of any frills. Also missing are the grandiose atmosphere and epic vibe that I usually expected from the band. I can't fault the band for trying something different, but overall the album comes off sounding kind of bland and it's "just there." I don't dislike it, but it's not an album I'd reach for when I want to hear Limbonic Art. Maybe the next one... See below for more reviews... ↓ |
