Speedrush is one of those bands that sounds like what you'd expect upon seeing the name and logo. Fast (duh) speed/thrash metal that could very well have been released in the '80s—albeit with a modern production—is pretty much what the band offers on Division Mortality. Thrashy vocals with memorable vocal lines, speedy swirling solos that would make a kid want to learn the guitar, and thundering drums that would have a similar effect. Through all that speed and heaviness, there's a melodic sensibility that makes the music more accessible without compromising its metallic essence. It's nothing out of the ordinary for the genre, but it's a lot of fun and just calls for repeat plays. Sure, it's yet another band worshipping the old school, but it's one of those that does it very well. |
