I really enjoyed this band's 2017 album, Monuments Will Enslave, but I am not really getting off with this one. Maat have toned down the Middle Eastern sounds in their music, and this is much more straightforward Death Metal. I find the songwriting repetitive, and there are far too many vocals mixed way too loud, so it's hard to hear what the music is doing, even when it is doing something interesting. It just seems to lack the intensity of their old stuff, and it sounds a lot less individual. Maat used to be in the same vein as Nile, but now they just sound like another Death Metal band imitating Behemoth or Vader and not doing the best job of it. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
