Female-fronted symphonic metal used to be exclusively a European phenomenon, but with their fourth album, World on Fire, Arlington, Texas-based Millennial Reign has waded into the pool, joining other US bands like Seven Spires and Seven Kingdoms. Vocalist Tiffany Galchutt has the strong, powerful voice required for this style and the band's songwriting is right down the middle of the symphonic metal avenue, neither doing anything spectacular nor making any missteps. Tracks like "Bring Me to Life" with its strong chorus to kick off the album and "Wandering" with a Middle Eastern melody and Evanescence-style vocal lines are highlights and I am impressed with the band's cover of Triumph's "Allied Forces" which is faithful to the original, yet Millennial Reign is able to put their own stamp on it. They aren't doing anything different, but if you enjoy female-fronted symphonic metal, World on Fire will get your feet tapping and have you singing along.
