Demon Spell is an Italian band comprised of veteran musicians that worship at the altar of underground '80s heavy metal, particularly the one with statues of the members of Mercyful Fate surrounding it. The crunchy guitars lay down catchy riffs while the bass and drums provide a thumping, pulsing bottom end, all in support of Federico Fano's wild vocals. He's got low, imploring shouts as well as high, falsetto wails that should have you singing along in no time and makes tracks like "Wings" and "Evil Nights" the kind of songs you want to hear again and again. Why, they even include some dusty vinyl scratching to kick things off before the opening track, making the whole EP awesomely '80s from start to finish. I hear other influences like Witch Cross and Crossfire in Demon Spell's music, but Mercyful Fate is the clear number one, so if you can't get enough of Nuns Have No Fun, Melissa and Don't Break the Oath along with everything '80s heavy metal, you need this one.
