With a band name like this and the artwork, I was expecting some kind of artsy avant-garde metal, but no, this is death metal. Liquid Flesh's take on the genre is muddy, fast death metal wrapped in a weird, dark atmosphere. The growls are kind of subtle, really taking second place to the music. Lots of speed to be found here, but it's not out-of-control speed and this is not the chaotic kind either. They often slow down a bit and the neck-snapping headbanging gets a bit of reprieve into more of a head-bobbing beat before speeding up again. This is quite old school in style, with riffs that often remind more of good old dirty thrash than anything modern in death metal, just some good fat stuff that crushes. It's a short listen—that closes with a cover of Entombed's "L'Oeil du maître")—and it's hard to resist hitting play again once it's over. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
